Alex Singer is a name revered in the annals of cyclo-touring history on a par with Rene Herse. Whilst Olivier Csuka, the son of Alex's business partner, still makes frames today in the old Singer shop, original Singer frames go for exorbitant prices. The reason being that Singer was truly an artisan; each bike was hand-built to exacting specifications, often including custom racks, lights, mudguards, bars and even brakes. Whilst Singer's name might have faded from the forefront of cycling now, this book full of beautiful photographs and articles about the bikes and their builders reminds us just what an innovative and technically forward minded bike-builder Singer was.
