As one of the main contact points on a bicycle, the importance of getting the right tape on your bike cannot be overstated. Useful for absorbing road vibration, improving comfort, maintaining grip and protecting your bars in a crash, there are plenty of different ways to sheath your bars. Classic road bikes might be best with cloth or leather tape for a vintage look, whilst modern road bikes make use of gel and cork tapes, or even high tech polymer tape like Lizardskinz. Mountain bikers and track riders alike find good use for grips, perfect for riser bars or the base of track drops, as they provide great grip and amazing dampening against rough roads.
