Pumps

Keeping decent pressure in your tyres is really important, low pressures saps your pedalling power and leads to punctures. Bike pumps fall in to two categories, track pumps are larger pumps that stay at home or at the workshop, and mini pumps that are designed to fit in a jersey pocket, to let you inflate your tyres in case of a puncture. Track pumps can reach extremely high pressure for inflating racing tyres. Mini pumps can't quite reach those pressures, but will definitely get enough air in the tyres to get you home. Most mini pumps will only inflate Presta valves, where as track pumps will usually do both Presta and Schrader type valves, with a double nozzle head.
