Track Wheels

Track wheels are concerned with stiffness and aerodynamism. Weight is less of a concern on the track, but losing power through flexy wheels is. Track wheels are built around hubs designed to take a single cog and lock ring. Some hubs have threading on both sides, to allow you to thread on two cogs and quickly and easily change your gear, although this isn't legal for track riding. Because brakes are illegal on the track, many track wheels won't have a machined sidewall that works with a brake, so if you intend to run track wheels on the road, make sure the rims you pick are compatible.
