Don't be fooled, whilst the 3.1 is touted as the entry level Madone, it outperforms most carbon bikes twice it's price. That's down to two things, firstly it's Trek's amazing history and heritage of making race-winning carbon frame. The second is the geometry. which remains pretty much identical throughout the Madone series. That means you're in exactly the same position that Cancellara or Armstrong have ridden to victory. This frame is perfect for all-year-round riding, especially with the built in rack and mudguard mounts.
The frame is built up with an excellent mix of components that keeps the cost down while prioritizing performance. The 105 shifters, brakes and rear deraileur make your shifting confident, while the SRAM S350 chainset and compact rings provide excellent power transferal. The Bontrager wheels are study, smooth affairs that will weather all road conditions. Whilst the position might indicate that this is an entry level frame, there is nothing budget about it.
