At this weekends SPIN London, we’re going to be exhibiting the prototypes for our 2013 frames. Firstly, we’d like to present the new Dart. Popular with both street and track riders, the Dart was already a fine-tuned frame for fast riding, but we’ve made a number of improvements for the new year.
Most obviously, we’ve gone large. The headtube takes a 44mm zero-stack headset, and the top tube and downtube are similarly brutish. We custom sourced the tubing for this frame, no-one else is using tubes this big. This means the weight stays down, but the frame is unbelievably stiff; this complete bike is down to 7.8kg. Our team rider Jacob says it rides more like our S1 than the old Dart, the huge tubes imparting comfort as well as responsiveness.
The graphics are designed by Will Rei, a Californian graphic designer who has worked with Specialized and Stanridge Cycles. The chalky matte grey and creamy ivory decals work with the subtle lines and graphics drawing the eye to the oversized tube joins and tight welds.
We will be exhibiting more new bikes at SPIN London, so keep an eye out for updates. There is no price currently available for the 2013 Dart, but we aren’t expecting a large price increase from the 2012 models. Stock models will be arriving later in the year…
