The second new bike we will be exhibiting this evening at SPIN London, after the 2013 Dart, is the Trooper CX. Our first cyclocross bike, this is a fast and versatile steel frame that can cover multiple riding disciplines from touring, audax and gravel track riding all the way in to serious ‘cross racing.
Built with double-butted chromoly, the frame is designed to be as versatile as possible. Hidden rack and mud-guard mounts mean you can keep dry and transport as much gear as necessary, while the clearance for fat tyres, fast geometry and top-tube routed cables mean this is a perfect bike to shoulder for a cross race.
The curving seat-stays bring real spring to the ride, while the chromoly tubing and lugged seatpost give the dependable, comfortable ride characteristics that you’d expect from a steel frame – whether you’re sliding through the mud or ripping some singletrack.
Like the 2013 Dart, this frame was designed by Will Rei. A deep blue with sky blue highlights, the frame has subtle aesthetic links to our water bottles and blue jersey. Plus, blue looks grand when covered in mud, as we hope these bikes will be.
This Trooper CX build has come in around 9.6kg. The frame will be available as a frame only, or with a steel fork. The price is not confirmed, but we’re expecting to set it a little under that of the Wide Open. Come down to Spin London this weekend to see the Trooper CX, the new Dart and lots more.
