HED have been at the forefront of aerodynamic rim design for years now, and their attempt to create a more aerodynamic aluminium rim has delivered the Ardennes - 23mm wide and 25 mm deep. The 23mm width means that 23c tyres sit neatly in the rim, with straight side-walls and no bulging. This means smoother airflow over the wheel, more grip and improved cornering, less pinch flats and a higher air volume in the tyres, meaning you can run them lower for improved comfort and faster speeds. It's a win-win situation of more comfort, more speed - a rare situation in cycling. Other manufacturers have been quick to mimic HED's success, but it's the Ardennes you want when building your ultimate road wheels.

Hope's Pro 3 Mono's are incredible hubs - the rotor body is one piece 7075 aluminium, with the shell machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aluminium. 4-pawl, twenty-four tooth engagement means you've got no play, and the custom made stainless steel bearings, specially designed and produced by INA are protected with a frictionless labyrinth seal. Light, tough and really damn loud, these hubs are the pinnacle of Hope's years of manufacturing high quality components, they have to been see to be believed.

Spokes can really make the difference to a wheel set, and when you've got 2 incredible parts like Ardennes rims and Hope hubs, there's no reason to go for anything less than the best. Sapim CX Rays are lighter than ti, more aerodynamic than carbon and hugely more resistant to fatigue than either, the CX Rays are 30% lighter than double butted spokes, and hugely more aerodynamic. They're the ideal spokes for such a high end wheelset.
